Endurance Events and Fear

Truth be told, endurance events – a GORUCK, Spartan’s Hurricane Heat and the like – are 100% out of my comfort zone. I am intimidated by them. I’ve successfully completed two Spartan Hurricane Heats and was medically dropped from a GORUCK Tough, a 12ish hour event, somewhere between the 6-8th hour. In each event at some point I told myself that I’m never doing another one of these events again. I was out of my comfort zone. Spartan Race Hurricane Heat HH-073

The gear list for HH-073 said to arrive by 5:15pm for a 6:00pm start. They key here is the be here by 5:15. HH-073.. The list has been received..

This morning I received the Mandatory Items list for the upcoming Hurricane Heat, HH-073, this weekend. Out of the required items, I have to pick up 10lbs of canned goods and a sharpie (the one I have isn’t waterproof). I still have yet to get the butterflies, but I’m sure they will hit Friday morning.

Now I just need to memorize the following…

I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
